Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o’er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?
One of our pastors commented recently on the shepherds. He mentioned that Luke wrote his Gospel from the testimonies of eyewitnesses--those shepherds were still telling the story some 60 years later!
Shepherds in the field abiding,
Tell us when the seraph bright
Greeted you with wondrous tiding,
What you saw and heard that night.
How well are you telling the story? How well am I telling the story?
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
"And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them" (Luke 2:20).
Merry Christmas
