God: My Portion

God is my portion.

I have been meditating on that lately...I knew it was somewhere in the Psalms, but was surprised at what a quick word-search revealed!

Many times it mentioned the "portion" of the wicked and ungodly--that is eternal punishment. I praise God that I am saved from that, and therefore, God is my portion.

Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers. The LORD is his inheritance, as the LORD your God said to him.)

{Deuteronomy 10:9}

The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.

{Psalm 16:5}

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

{Psalm 73:26}

The LORD is my portion; I promise to keep your words.

{Psalm 119:57}

I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

{Psalm 142:5}

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."

Jesus: "but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."

Is God your portion? Do you let that change your life? God is all I need.

When life hurts, is hard, or whatever,

God is my portion!

This and That

I think it's been almost 10 days since my last post...definitely not normal without a good reason!

But maybe I have had a reason...

*12 pages of papers and 6 more to go in one class

*a 10-page paper in another class I should be working on harder than I am...

*once a week I help out a mom who has a 4-year-old, a 21/2-year-old, a 9-month old, and one due in August :)

*learning not to focus on my situations, whether they be work or school or whatever

*my weakness...homemake breakfasts that aren't very good for you ;)

*enjoying friendships and God's love

*camera upgrade--still a point-and-shoot but much better quality!!

*looking forward to spring...my sister's started decorating and maybe soon my part of the room and this blog with get with it :)

I'm glad for the work that God has been doing in my heart and life. I would have loved to post some quality or attribute of God every day this month, but even though that is not possible (and I haven't posted even as often as usual), I've still loved to have it on my mind. Do you often meditate on how great God is? His words and His ways are wonderful! :)

God: Lord Over All

Why do the nations rage

and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,

and the rulers take counsel together,

against the LORD and

against His Anointed, saying,
"Let us burst Their bonds apart

and cast away Their cords from us."
He who sits in the heavens laughs;

the Lord holds them in derision.

God is LOVE

For while we were still weak,

at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--

though perhaps for a good person

one would dare even to die--but

God shows His love

for us in that

while we were still sinners,

Christ died for us.

A Song of Praise

I am a child of God!

I will extol You, my God and King,

and bless Your name forever and ever.

My response can never be enough.

Every day I will bless You and

praise Your name forever and ever.

I stand in awe!

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,

and His greatness is unsearchable.

Do I share the big and little "God-things"?

One generation shall commend

Your works to another,

and shall declare Your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty,

and on Your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of

Your awesome deeds, and I will

declare Your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of Your

When I see God working, am I thankful?

When I don't see Him working,

do I tell myself Truth?

The LORD is gracious and merciful,

The LORD is good to all,

and His mercy is over all that He has made.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

All Your works shall give thanks to You,

O LORD, and all Your saints shall bless You!
They shall speak of the glory of

Your kingdom and tell of Your power,
to make known to the children of man

Your mighty deeds, and the

glorious splendor of Your kingdom.

I am part of an eternal purpose!

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and Your dominion endures

throughout all generations.

and kind in all His works.)

Do I rest in God?

The LORD upholds all who are falling and

raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You,

and You give them their food in due season.

Do I trust in God?

Am I letting Him change me?

Am I looking to Him?

You open Your hand;

You satisfy the desire of

every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all His ways

and kind in all His works.
The LORD is near to all who call on Him,

to all who call on Him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him;

He also hears their cry and saves them.

God's ways are just and holy and good.

The LORD preserves all who love Him,

but all the wicked He will destroy.

I can never testify enough!

My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD,

and let all flesh bless His holy name

forever and ever.

This is My God

Glorious, indescribable,

Great and marvelous, Ancient of days.

Unsearchable God

When doing a random google search "God's attributes" I ran across a website label that read:

God's Known Attributes

That blew me away. I figured there was a list somewhere of God's attributes. All of them.

But God cannot be contained or fathomed or put into a box or even understood. We cannot make a list "all" about God.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways,

declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are

higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

{Isaiah 55:8-9}
