I bow now, praising my Savior as Mary did: “And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, … for He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is for those who fear Him from generation to generation…He has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy, as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever’” (from Luke 1, ESV).
Thou didst leave Thy throne
and Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem’s home
was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity.
Heaven’s arches rang
when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth didst
Thou come to earth,
And in great humility.
Thou camest, O Lord,
with the living Word,
That should
set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn
and with crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary.
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room
in my heart for Thee.
